Default WD Passport - can't mount or eject in Lion, using v9.0

hi - i just found this software and am using the trial version.

i have a WD Passport 1TB that is new. i formatted it to NTFS on windows and was trying to use the NTFS for Mac.

i looked thru the forums here and was able to get it to mount via commands in terminal. but then i couldn't get it to eject. i kept getting a message that it was in use, even though i closed and quit everything that could have been using the drive (i had transferred a single page pdf doc as a test).

so then i followed all the instructions in the faq about drives not mounting automatically in Lion, but they didn't really apply because i didn't have a previous version of NTFS for Mac.

so i'm really confused as to what to do.

will i have to mount and eject via terminal every time i want to use it?
