Default ESET Firewall blocking access to Internet

Hi all, this is my first post here in which i hope i am able to get the issue my ESET Smart Security 5 software is having allowing access to the internet. I am running ESET on my Windows 7- 64 bit platform. Issues with connectivity and cannot get access to the internet with the ESET firewall on. I have followed the directions on the ESET knowledge base in going through the Advance personal firewall setup and changing the personal firewall setting to interactive also the Rules and Zones section and selecting home Allow sharing as well as checking all the boxes under IDS and Advanced option's allowed services. Pressed ok and restarted my PC to find i still cannot gain connectivity. I am running a Belkin Modem router through cable and it seems the firewall is blocking my modem's access to the internet. There seems to be the same IP address popping up in the alert stating the firewall has blocked its access which i believe to be my modem.

Can someone offer the ray of light needed at this time t resolve this problem please.

Thank you all who read and offer advice.

Please enable logging of blocked connections in the IDS setup, reproduce the problem and paste here the relevant records from the firewall log here then.

Does the problem persist after enabling pre-release updates and running a manual update?

Open the main GUI panel, activate the Update panel and click "Update virus signature database".

Marcus you have been an absolute god send, thank you so much for your time and assistance in fixing the issue with my Smart security software. ESET tech support failed to answer my dilemma and repeatedly sent generic email responses which i had advised were actioned, was not impressed with there support. Sorry to mar your good deeds with bad news here, all the best to you and wish you every success.

Regards,

Gav
