I use Norton 2011 and Prevx having read the reviews this guy posted over the years. He last tested Prevx some time back and gave it rave notices, but he has not tested it of late which is disappointing. He also tells me Norton is the best of the best, year in and year out. So I hope that the latest joint effort of Prevx and Webroot will knock Norton off top spot, if not, and if Prevx stops being sold separately, it'll be goodbye Prevx and hello Malwarebytes Pro and the probably once again champion of the world the very excellent Norton 2012. So it's over to you Mr. Rubenking, and we'll keep our fingers crossed for a good report.

Very interesting article, thanks for posting.

It's this sort of article that gives you a behind the scene feeling and info about what's been made/changed, that results in "I must try this product" feeling. :thumb:
Now I'm already a BETA tester so it doesn't matter in my case.

Yes is that "our" Joe in that Pic. Though even after seeing him I still can't tell if he is an "English man in New York" or a native American. :D

One should not base the experience the Good, the bad, and the ugly out of what one editor on a Magazine is saying.
Nothing against Mr Rubenking he's fine, but that's how it is.

You should try the product/s, and only You should decide whether they are worth keeping or not.
The Magazines are just a guide in the dark.

And FYI. Webroot SecureAnywhere IS based upon Prevx 4 and will be much better than the current standalone Prevx. So you should not "dump" Prevx only because it may disappear as a standalone app. Try WSA and you will be surprised in a very positive way I promise :thumb:

I'm an American native (not a "Native American", so to speak ;))

We chose to not release a Prevx 4.0 build when we released Prevx 3.0.5.0. At that point, we would have had PC Magazine re-review it, but we chose not to in favor of waiting until the actual "4.0" (or 8.0 now :)).

I'm very excited for the review by PC Magazine as there has been a lot of new functionality introduced and the existing functionality streamlined significantly.

I don't have the exact timing of when the reviews will be done but we're all looking forward to them!

(that can be used both ways, if you have all the info about every software and every tool on a system then how is one to protect their intellectual property? How different is that from a remote access trojan?)

Call me paranoid but that is a tremendous amount of information that I might not be willing to share with the cloud. I see a massive privacy and IP issue here. I can see that a method like that can't be use in any corporate world since you don't really know what is being sent and how much information is being gathered about your current environment. From this article I see how this tool can be used to map local network environment of a client including everything that is being ran on the client system and all the information of the PC's being used. That is way too much info, if it were to ever fall into wrong hands who knows what can be done with it.

That's one major negative aspect of "in the cloud anti-malware" mainly your privacy and your corporate IP might be in jeopardy since it's in the hands of the CLOUD and any cloud data breach is all you need.

Norton 2012 has arrived http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2392466,00.asp, and the guy who will be reviewing the Webroot Prevx combo has given it the editors prize for the third year in a row. Has our favourite bit of software missed the boat do you think ?

The WSA line is still in beta so Rubenking hasn't tested it yet as, to quote him, the "information is under embargo until the release of the final code." It'll be interesting to see what he makes of it when it is finally released and everything is fully operational.

Enterprise is coming a bit after the home version but I think you'll like our improvements there as well :)
