mantra,

The partition type is 07 (NTFS) but I suspect you mean something else.

What you see in the GUI is only a fraction of those available. But most users can just accept the defaults.

IFW/IFD/IFL will not change the partition alignment if you restore an image into an established partition. It won't mess up your partitions, mantra.

If you restore an image into unallocated space and request 2048 sector alignment, that's what you will get. If you restore an image into unallocated space and request cylinder alignment, that's what you will get.

brian anyway to create a full winpe disc with ifw? i mean like what active@ has or similar?? with command prompt, start button menu etc.... i have tried adding that stuff to the winpe disc created with ifw and some things work but a lot will not due to files missing..and i have on the other hand tried to add the full ifw to active's boot disc and not everything will work properly

zfactor,
Maybe but I don't know how.

Have you found the Active@ CD boots faster than the TeraByte CD?

mantra,

You are making it sound too hard.

The section about Win7 MBR only applies to certain hardware. Ignore the option.

Similarly, don't change any of the Geometry defaults. If you don't understand what the Geometry options are, then you almost certainly don't need to use them. Geometry options shouldn't be used for standard image/restore procedures.

What issues do you have?

I do all of my restores in Active@ or TeraByte PE. They are auto restores from a batch file in the PE. From Windows I have a batch file that copies the relevant batch file to the PE via TBOSDT. Then the computer restarts into the PE.

mantra, I didn't think you were rude at all. I just meant that you are trying to make a simple procedure appear complicated. I just use the defaults.

That's fine. Leave the defaults alone.

Don't be concerned about Geometry. Don't bother looking at those menus. They will frighten you. Geometry settings aren't for what you are doing. For example, the settings can be used when creating images of a HD if that HD is not in its correct computer at the time. We don't do that. We are imaging when the HD is in its correct computer.

As you will be restoring images to established partitions you don't need to be concerned about alignment. The alignment will be preserved.

Keep it simple as Brian K. pointed out. It's pretty rare you will need to mess with those settings.

I am not sure on your first question about the encryption...however, Phylock is not necessary as you can tell it to use Microsoft VSS. However, unless there is a reason, I would recommend sticking with Phylock myself. It's never given me an issue.
