Hello all,
I've been using Avira Free for a long time as an on-demand scanner, but to be honest, the new popup for a toolbar is unacceptable to me. I'm wondering what the best alternatives are. I only use on-demand as I'm very safe with my files and would rather not take any type of performance hit from an always-active scanner. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks! |

There are many possibilities for an On-Demand Scanner. None of them detect all Malware. Here are some options.
1. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2. SuperAntiSpyware Free 3. Emsisoft Emergency Kit I would not consider any of them to be "Best". Some are better at detecting certain Malware than others. You should always use more than one Anti-Malware scanner. However, using more than one Anti-Malware scanner also increases the risk of one or more "False Positives".
