Is there a similar better-than-Win defragger for XP-Home (drive is NTFS)?

I've been using the WinME defrag for several months on my Win98SE without any problems. It's also a slightly smaller file (209KB vs 248KB). -- dak |

Try this one. It is better than defrag from MS and was created by the same as who created MS defrag. http://www.executive.com/defrag/defrag.asp it is called Diskeeper by Executive Software.

Thanks, Cochise and X
I took a quick look at the one from Exec but wasn't impressed with the price for essentially just a defragger, haven't yet had a chance to look for the other one.And I may not bother anyway -- XP-home set up as NTFS tends to defrag in the background anyway from time to time, so even if I religiously do a defrag once a week as part of my system-cleanup routine, it typically takes only about 10 or 15 minutes to sort out the 4 gig or so currently on my drive, as against about 45 minutes on my old 98SE system. Admittedly the old defrag was more interesting to watch (with details on, anyway). One of these days I'll have a flash of inspiration (voice from the heavens, maybe? ) to explain to me how my current system can sometimes report a reading of 0.99 average fragments per file. ![]() Best, Mike

Diskeeper from Exec and your standard XP Defrag are actually one and the same Mike from what I know of it.....one thing I DO know...that Exec diskeeper takes some getting rid of once installed.... Cochise, ![]()
