video capture with built in codec,is there one?

is there a video capture like camstudio with codec built in , like VLC ?

in short a video capture that does not need to install system codecs

do you recognize this program ?

I'm not sure if ashampoo snap 4 has that or not but I don't remember having to install any codecs.

Snap 4 requires the Windows Media Encoder software.

To O.P.: Nothing wrong with having some basic codecs on the machine. Anything you capture/convert you then have to be able to play, also.

When you install something like the VLC player, it installs codecs and renderers as part of that installation.
So one way or another, you need some codecs and splitters on the machine in order to capture, convert, and play video files.
Just the way it is.

The menu comes up for the capture program while the person makes a quick adjustment. I can't say I recognize the GUI well enough to say for certain which exact capture program it belongs to.

What is your thread here about?
Are you asking about screen capture software in general, or are you only trying to identify the specific progam used in the video?

edit: It is Camtasia. I doubt you'd like that though. When I tried it out a couple of versions back, it installed a bunch of codecs. I settled with the freebie BBFlashback Express which allows saving to avi format and also installs its own codec but to a much much lesser degree than that of Camtasia. Faststone I think uses the built in windows codecs? I couldn't make it work though on Windows with deny srp unless if I elevate it to admin.

sad there is not a video capture with codec built in like vlc (there is a portable version too)
you can play every video file with vlc without installing codec

i would really need a video capture with the codec built in
