This Critical Patch Update Pre-Release Announcement provides advance information about the Oracle Critical Patch Update for July 2011, which will be released on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. While this Pre-Release Announcement is as accurate as possible at the time of publication, the information it contains may change before publication of the Critical Patch Update Advisory.

A Critical Patch Update is a collection of patches for multiple security vulnerabilities. This Critical Patch Update contains 78 new security vulnerability fixes across hundreds of Oracle products. Some of the vulnerabilities addressed in this Critical Patch Update affect multiple products. Due to the threat posed by a successful attack, Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply Critical Patch Update fixes as soon as possible.

Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2011

Description

A Critical Patch Update is a collection of patches for multiple security vulnerabilities. Critical Patch Update patches are cumulative but each advisory describes only the security fixes added since the previous Critical Patch Update advisory. Thus, prior Critical Patch Update advisories should be reviewed for information regarding earlier published security fixes. Please refer to:

Due to the threat posed by a successful attack, Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply CPU fixes as soon as possible. This Critical Patch Update contains 78 new security fixes across all product families listed below.

Critical Patch Updates

Critical Patch Updates are the primary means of releasing security fixes for Oracle products to customers with valid support contracts. They are released on the Tuesday closest to the 17th day of January, April, July and October. The next four dates are:

18 October 2011
17 January 2012
17 April 2012
17 July 2012

For Oracle Java SE Critical Patch Updates, the next three dates are:

18 October 2011
14 February 2012
12 June 2012

A pre-release announcement will be published on the Thursday preceding each CPU release.
