Does not matter what security you have, if someone want's to invade your computer they will. Adding hundreds of security programs only bogs down your system, and sometimes makes things worse. Big brother is the one to watch out for. All you need is common sense, even then you are not safe from spies (BB).

Yes, with only getting hit with one piece of malware in a little over a year. Sandboxie alone didn't let that rogue onto my system, so no real infection on my XP system in that time, and I am all over the web, surfing from one different website to another. I keep my setup simple, and believe, the more software added, the more security holes are also added.
I would just like to add here, that I feel "safe enough". Meaning, I'm not paranoid and don't put much attention on the fact my system can still get infected. Sure it can get infected at some point in the near future, but as far as I know, it hasn't happened yet.

I believe I've ensured my security/safety as best as currently possible. Between the vast number of tweaks to my OS, my various security tools and scans, and sandboxie and VMs I really don't think there's anymore I could currently do. I'm always on the lookout for new ways to add another layer of security or improve existing ones but I've become weary of the weight of security programs.

Let's face it. The only REALLY safe computer is one with absolutely no connections to anything else at all. And no software "upgrades" either.

I know that I'm not completely "safe" despite multiple safeguards including (but not limited to) two independently bootable hotswap drives dedicated to nothing except rotating backups, plus a third eSATA off-site. But, like most things in life, it's a trade-off between theoretical perfection and practicality.

I voted "other", because while I generally feel safe, I can't make the claim that I feel 100% safe. Can anyone really, short of a physical disconnect on a freshly formatted box?

I feel safe with my setup. No "in the wild" threat is likely to break my security, that said a targeted attack may be able to. I have tested my setup with Pentesting tools and even managed to be the last man standing at a hackaton here in my town, but I am sure some one with enough time and money could break through it eventually. That said I am confident that I wont be hit by an "in the wild" attack any time soon and that is the only thing I am worried about. I don't think I am important enough to warrant a targeted attack.

Sounds fun. I'd love something like that but I feel like it would be too easy. As easy as installing hardened gentoo at least.

I actually don't care anymore, sandboxing, virtualization, and imaging practically have eliminated any guess work when something happens. As much as I read of malware infecting computers, I'm afraid I can't see anything out of the ordinary ever affecting my machines.

On the other hand two days ago I lost the Internet connection for 6 hours due to a problem in my area, and it threw me in a state of anxiety that I couldn't honestly justify except for being 'disconnected', it is a form of addiction which is apparently affecting many people. Take the Internet away, there isn't much left about computing, just a dead machine.

Although I'm not 100% safe I feel 100% safe and that was the question. Mostly Sandboxie makes me feel safe and imaging makes me feel not worried when something goes wrong (not malwarewise, but wtfisthatmessingwithmypc?wise).

Ha! Harden Gentoo would win for sure. I used my hardened Fedora install that I use as a Daily Driver and it lasted so I am sure Gentoo with GRsecurity et al would be good. Only reason I don't use Gentoo is because I can't get LUKS to work properly with it. Maybe I will try again when I have time.

We all know no setup is 100% safe but the question is not if it's 100%, it's if you feel you're safe with your setup which in my case i do feel it is safe although i know it's nowhere close to bulletproof.
