Default Interesting Day with Ramnit.a, b , c ,h Eset flops badly

First of all Eset fails as do many other antivirus malware providers in failing to provide access to latest definitions in downloadable format.

Why does one presume you have a working internet connection

So that means you go to remove the hard drive full of diseased rubbish and plug it into another computer.

Now ramnit is nasty you don't want to expose your pc's to it at all really. It's not your fault your silly nephew doesn't practise save hex is it.

Anyway I got a mac and three licenses floating around not in use so I download eset onto a mac and pluggted the infected drive into a caddy and told it too scan and destroy.

Except it doesn't it claims to have done so yet doing a second scan brings back the exact same files so they haven't been deleted cleaned or actually moved to quarantine.

So eset cybersecurity has a problem.

So into parallels and scan via eset and again the same promise which is fiction. The file again are still there and infected.

So I download pctools and spyware doctor and that finds even more than eset. Claims to have killed them abut says it can't fix the mbr.

Fair enough now to my netbook I'm not bothered if that gets infected I'll just dump windows 7 and run it totally as Unbuntu netbook.

Scan with eset yes spyware doctor has killed what it claimed to have killed. Eset also declares it can't fix the mbr's.

So my question is why did eset cybersecurity fail to clean the infected drive despite saying it had done so. Why did it fail via the virtual machine yet spyware doctor succeeded.

You should say this to the vendors which rely heavily on the cloud .

Well at least we've got a working laptop. So my Nephew can tell what he wants backing up before we nuke and do a clean install.
