Default Website for patches?

Is there a website where I can download Microsoft security patches without using Internet Explorer?

@ bellgamin

Yes

Others have given you some info/links which should help & here's my input.

You can search for updates.

Quote:
Microsoft Security Bulletin Summaries and Webcasts

https://www.microsoft.com/technet/se...n/summary.mspx

Quote:
Results for:"security update"

https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...urity%20update

For eg, once know the KB #'s

Quote:
Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB2524426)

https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...displaylang=en

Name: msd.gif
Views: 222
Size: 17.3 KB

Downloading as many as i require with FF has never been a problem for me in the past

Back when IE-8 first came out and I was having problems with it (I did and still do use Firefox as my default), I found that you can download the patch-installer EXEs just fine with Firefox if you do it through the links in their bulletins rather than thru MS Update. It's more work that way, since you have to pick out for yourself which ones are relevant, and then run them one at a time (possibly needing to reboot after some or even each one), but it's a reasonable work-around if you don't want to use IE.

(Edit) That's essentially what CloneRanger advised in his posting -- sorry, missed that one.

Default Re: Website for patches?

I ended up using basically the method suggested by CloneRanger & MikeBCda -- First I use Belarc Advisor to list all the patches that I am missing. Then Belarc gives me a click spot for each missing patch, which takes me to the Microsoft Security Bulletin. I then click on the IT link, & it takes me to the download.

Works grrreat with Firefox!!

Many thanks to all who helped & counseled.

Thumbs up Re: Website for patches?

@ bellgamin

Glad you got it sorted

And thanks for reminding me about Belarc Advisor I had forgotten about it, as i don't bother with MS updates anymore I used BA previously before though on another XP/SP2 install, to grab all the Critical ones to DL & install via FF.
