One quicky
...I got a question regarding the firewall component. What the heck will it do? Can it co-exist with Windows firewall? Can I, for example, pick a process and only allow it to connect to certain IPs/domains? |

It's a little confusing...this is called SecureAnywhere and is also referred to as the Webroot antivirus by the OP. Plus it apparently has a firewall.
So is Webroot's strategy similar to Panda's line of having a cloud based product and a traditional antivirus with installed signatures? If this product (SecureAnywhere) can be ran alongside other suites does it replace SpySweeper in the Webroot product line? I get the feeling that SecureAnywhere is going to be a full fledged suite with Prevx built in. Is the firewall turned off by default in this version of the beta?

I was also wondering what the possible cost might be.
I went to the webroot.com/En_US site and checked the price for the current top of the range product, Complete Protection @ US$79.00 That's around $74.97 Australian. I found it a little pricey. I then navigated to webroot.com.au/En_AU, WOW they wanted a whopping AU$119.00 for the identical product How can that price difference be justified What pricing policy is used? 58.73% INCREASE I just hope that when and if it comes to purchasing/upgrading, I am not redirected to the Australian site. ![]() |

Another question for the list please. Will Webroot/Prevx be able to retain the unique and attractive USP of guaranteed malware removal in future? At present
Webroot charge a lot for this service, and I believe it's a big selling point for Prevx, which should not be lost, if possible. http://www.webroot.com/En_US/premium...us-remove.html

Will it be possible to get a Hitman Pro + Webroot AV bundle in the future? The current Webroot AV 50% off deal is great value since it has dropped to about $24.95 AUD per user for a year. Webroot needs more testing by AV-C and if they can get better results then it will result in more sales

Looks like another step towards eradicating 'prevx'
Maybe we should just call it what it now is, Webroot. (Unless Prevx remains a single piece of software.) Ie. Threatfire is Threatfire (not Cyberhawk)

![]() I just hope we can opt out of some the added Webroot crap during the install like the unnecessary firewall. The Webroot GUI i guess we can't expect to get rid off. ![]() |

Unnecessary firewall?. I guess you use a firewall in your PC, right?. If you want to use another one, that doesn't make this one "crap" or "unnecessary". At the very least, it would be wise to wait and see how good it is. For my taste, it's always good that the firewall is designed to work alongside the behavior blocker, as is the case with Norton. And about the "eradication of Prevx" and "the added Webroot crap", it seems clear enough that, with a 478 KB installer, this is Prevx 4 and only Prevx 4, no matter what's its name. Everything that has been announced now was hinted long before Webroot bought Prevx. If I'm not wrong, Webroot takes up more than 100MB in the hard drive. |

I don't care what it's bundled with, I'm sure you will be able to turn off the firewall. But, you may find you like it, just wait until you've tested it. At this stage, anything else is just speculative, If Joe says this'll be top-notch, it will probably be just that |

Yeah, I think Joe hinted at a Prevx firewall long before Webroot took over. This product seems more like Prevx 4 rebranded with Webroot logo(and lime colors
) |

I think you gents confuse humour with a rant, which i guess is my fault, i meant it as a humouristic post with a tad of "i wish to see some options", options to opt out during the install and not just to turn of in the GUI. I couldn't care less how much smaller or bigger than other products it is or if it uses 200mb ram just running. I also don't care about Webroot adding a gazillion new options, as long as i can opt out during the install. Just because i ask about this it is not the same as not looking forward to this new version, being a formed Webroot customer and not looking forward to becoming one again by force i'm simply a little guarded. We'll see what this ends up as, i reserve the right to fear the worst and hope for the best. ![]() |

Joe said that any part of the program can be disable if one chooses to, same as in Prevx 3.0 you can turn off SafeOnline as an Example! If you look at the third picture in the first post of this thread you can even disable Heuristics!

![]() It's not what i'm hoping for though, depending on how this firewall is implemented then the driver would still be there if it's just disabling via the GUI. Optout during the install would be a possibility to be rid of this, but again i don't know you're right since i haven't seen it yet. I do know it will be too late for any bigger changes when it's released though. It probably already is, don't see why i should stay silent tough and critical it unfortunately often seen as a negative. I'm just critical and have admittedly been put off by those screenies. I may end up liking it in the end. ![]() |
