They have it backwards. It is important to have privacy precisely because our power derives from what we hide. A state of constant access and sharing of information divests us from our value, and flattens our countenance, both to ourselves and whomever happens to be watching. The surveillance itself guarantees that you will not want to have anything to hide.

Funny isn't it !
I'm sure the people who try, & do, push out ALL these rules/regulations/laws that constantly invade our privacy, & expect us to fall into line & go along with everything they want, more than likely, have things they want to keep private/secret. But of course, they think such laws etc are not for them, it's only for the masses & the "little people"

Google's CEO (I think it was the CEO) said something like it: "If you have something that you don't want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place." And although there's some truth in that, it's not the whole story. For example: do you want to share medical data? School results? Pay checks? Family matters? Lots of people seem to think "they don't have anything to hide" these days, and therefore agree with all kind of far-going security measures. Stay sharp, is my advice. Because you don't have anything to hide, doesn't mean you want to show them everything .
