Default Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool?

Has anyone actually used this or found it helpful? I keep getting fairly large updates for it though Windows Updates, 2 this month. I'm just wondering if it's worth the bother. Thanks.

I am/have used it to combat malware on some machines. I don't download it on regular basis on my own

You don't need to bother with it. Just make sure you set Windows Update to ignore it, otherwise it will pester you about it (and sometimes even if you tell it to ignore it).

I guess I can ignore it and then update later if I ever decide I want to use it. Thanks for the input.

I am still stuck on dial-up and when I see the size of the updates for windows malicious software removal tool, I shudder. Fortunately they don't turn out as large as shown. ( I update whenever the option is there).
