Have you checked to make sure the following temp folders still exist?

    C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\Temp
    and
    C:\Windows\Temp

If the folder(s) is(are) missing, you can recreate them.

    Windows XP
Click 'File' in the toolbar at top and selecting 'New' and 'folder'. Rename it Temp and click 'OK'. Try running the update again and it should work for you.

    Windows Vista & Windows 7
Click 'Organize' at the top of the window & select 'New Folder'. If prompted, hit 'Continue'. Rename the folder as Temp and click 'OK'

    Hello,

Just to add to dwomack's excellent reply, you may have to reboot for the changes to take effect.
