Default FTP Transfer Up & Down

hi
I am having a hard time trying to figure out what is wrong with a server that has an interrupted FTP transfer (see attached). The transfer speed bounces up and down from 0 to 2 MBytes/sec every 2-3 seconds instead of being quasi linear.
I saved a file (download_ftp.cscpkt) that has some 16 MBytes in size (some 10 seconds of FTP transfer) but I am not sure if this is what you expect from me for getting an opinion. If yes, where do I have to upload it ?
Thank you

Hi master,

I got your packet file and I have the following findings for you.

You see, It took more than 2 sec to get next packet from the server after your client sent No. 5104 packet. This is why you see that bounce.

Maybe next figure is more clear (the same two packets).

ok, so how do I translate that into a real world solution ?
what I was expecting from Colasoft software is the next step: suggestions such as: see media converter duplex error, see 'that' setting at your FTP server, see router settings, a.s.o.

because seeing data flow is just half the solution...

OK. So now we can see the problem isn't on your client machine. You should move on to the upper equipment and even all the way up to that FTP server. I suggest you start a capture at the same time on that server.

I surely would... but the server is running Ubuntu and as far as I am aware, you don't have a solution for Linux, although the vast majority of servers are running *nix flavors...

What about mirroring traffic from that Ubuntu server and analyzing from a Windows machine?

Hi Master,

I think you can read this post: http://www.colasoft.com/support/installation.php. Pay attention to Topology illustration 2 in the post. Hope you can get some clues.

Your laconic invitation towards looking for clues from a photo made me understand that I am not using the right product and I am not asking the right company. A far more competitive product having included the Drill-Down Innovative In-Depth Analysis is CACE Pilot 2.4 from Riverbed Technology which helped me step-by-step solving my problem.
I hope that you will understand these days how easy it is to loose clients using a bad marketing policy. On the other hand I hope that you will respect the freedom of speech and opinion.
