You can download and save files while running inside BufferZone.
The files will be stored inside the virtual zone. They will remain there until you erase them or Empty BufferZone.

If you trust the files, and want them to reside on the real machine, you can then right-click Move out of BufferZone on the files.

You do not need to unload BufferZone to download and save files.

Keylogging protection by BufferZone is against any keylogger that found its way to the virtual zone.

BufferZone protection prevents keylogging from any application running OUTSIDE of the virtual zone (Not only Internet Explorer) by a keylogger running inside.

The privacy zone feature, makes it easier for Internet Explorer users to surf out side of BufferZone for selected URLs - but if you select to surf using a different browser, or use any other application outside of BufferZone - you will still be protected.

I had to manually shut down and return to a good snap shot on CTM to get rid of it. SO anyone here with win xp sp3 having the same issues or are there any possible way to resolve this. My pc has only 1.5GB of ddr2 ram and do not know if thats enough for bufferzone or not? Any help or inside into this is welcommed.

This sounds like a compatibility issue with another application you have on the machine.
Which other security applications are you using?

bufferzone has conflict with my existing softwares....

when i first install, it prompted incompatible A-square antimalware/manutu... asking me if i want to go ahead installing. I proceed to install, However, it crashed upon reboot. No choice, have to uninstall from safe mode (XP).

After uninstalling bufferzone, I thought what the heck, why not uninstall a-square antimalware and try bufferzone again...

after uninstall A-square and install Bufferzone, it prompted another incompatible System safety Monitor....arh !!!!!!!!!!!!!

why doesnt it prompt all incompatible softwares at one go ??

the worst part is that i have uninstalled Mamutu which was from a giveaway several months back.... And i cant install it back....

bufferzone >>

Glad you have backups in place.

Why it prompts one at a time? Dunno as I installed BZ into an XP VM with no other security.

BZ has done very well against quite a few malware samples so far.

You can use BufferZone as a executable monitor

1. First set to install signed programs OUTSIDE bufferzone AND install unsigned programs from USB devices INTO the bufferzone

See http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...6&postcount=35

2. Set Bufferzone to guard ANY newly arrived executable (even from trusted aps). Same here unsigned programs are installed INSIDE bufferzone
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...7&postcount=36

3. Set Bufferzone to guard scripts originated from trusted programs by running them INSIDE the bufferzone
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...8&postcount=37

4. Remove all programs guarded
Remember you only want to use Bufferzone as Sandbox like Avast Pro or CIS are doing (only with way less system drag/hassle and higher security

a) Remove partially sandboxed programs
- Open BZ Console
- Click on Configuration
- Click on "Advanced Rules"
- Click Mail
- Remove all mail programs (only attachements are sandboxed).
than CIS 5 sandbox for instance)

b) Remove fully sandboxed programs
- Open BZ console
- Click on Summery
- Click on "Edit BufferZone programs"
- Remove all sandboxed programs

(See picture)

5. Make sure sandboxed programs can't go out
Change the default deny rule by removing the one port only
(See http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...9&postcount=38) you only need the stopsign rule

Now every new executable will be installed in the BufferZone when it is non-signed. You can easily remove the BZ tag from an executable by right clicking and chosing move outside BZ (or run outside BZ for only once). So it is sort of Sandbox-Unsigned (Anti) Executable with system wide protection.

This protection layer use near zero processing power and minimal disk I/O.
Add Avast free to it and you have the benefits of Avast Pro BZ is way better than the CIS 5 sandbox, it is solid (as Franklin states)

I have a question and I think I have many overlaps in my setup.

I currently use Avast Internet Security. What components should I remove in order to jive one another? Do I downgrade to a Avast free? Or I don't need Bufferzone in Avast IS? Do I need Avast Firewall because BZ have firewall also. Its seem a strong protection stated above with minimal or no popups at all.

Thanks for the advice Kees...

Thanks Kees1958 for wonderful guides/settings for utilizing BufferZone Pro in better way. I am testing it now with your above-recommended settings in VM.

Haha you allready got Avast Internet Security, leave it as it is. You don't need BZ.

Maybe download the BZ Pro freebie, for future use (when freebie still works you can use it with Avast Free).

Should be able to use the same installer again, no.

Anyone using Avast Pro with Bufferzone? Just wanted to see if they are compatible.

BZ Pro seems to have more features I like than avast SB.

Does BZ protect all partitions?

I'm currently using it with Avira AV free and they work great together. Extremely light and effective. I only wish they had a 64bit version.

any chance you can wipe/erase the contents of -whatever and wherever it is- bz, as in sandboxie?
also, i'd like to know whether it's possible to prevent sandboxie from creating files/folders which have longer-than-255 characters in their names? cuz, for instance, when you use a proxy site w/in sbie, most of the time, the files & folders that are created w/in sandbox tend to have names longer than 255 characters. in this case, it's not possible to wipe/erase the contents of sandbox w/o renaming those files/folders and replacing their original names w/ shorter ones in order to wipe/erase them. i asked this question here@wilders some time ago, but noone seemed to have the answer to it, so it's left unanswered. if anybody knows a solution for this problem, help'll be much appreciated. sorry if it's a lil bit ot (which i think isn't).
cheers

To answer your question about cleaning the virtual files, registry items etc. there is an option to automatically clean it at different scheduled itervals with the BZ configuration screen. I have mine to clean each day. In SBIE I cleaned it after each browsing session. I wish BZ had this but I can live with each day. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with BZ, so much that I might be installing it along with Avira AV on my wifes PC.

thanks for your answer. but what i'd like to know exactly is whether it's possible to wipe/erase the contents of the virtual files folder via a sw that could wipe the files & folders w/ secure wipe algorithms, such as eraser, bc-wipe, etc.
but afaiu from your post, it's not possible to do that, since the erasing procedure is somewhat like an automated process takes place at certain intervals. am i right?

also, it'll be much appreciated if someone could answer the other part of my question regarding sbie.
