Default USB 3.0 Cable Question

I am considering purchasing an external USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure for a SATA300 hard drive. I have seen a comment from a purchaser of the same enclosure that the hard drive enclosure end of the provided USB 3.0 cable is special and will not fit a USB 2.0 cable.

I currently only have USB 2.0 on all of my PC's. I want to purchase this USB 3.0 enclosure because I know that it supports 2.0 GB SATA hard drives and it has a cooling fan.

Question: Will a USB 3.0 cable end that plugs into the PC's USB port fit a PC's USB 2.0 port?

Thanks in Advance.

I understood it can connect, obviously not at 3.0 speed. See

It depends on the connector type.
Type "A" is interchangeable; it will fit either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
Type "B" is generation-specific.
And there are other variations, such as mini-USB which also has it's particular requirements.

Thanks for your replies.

I placed the order for the USB 3.0 external SATA enclosure.
