Regardless, the options should be available. Especially in any "Pro" edition (imho).

It's one thing to have default settings or default actions, especially for those users you refer to. This is a good thing.

It's another thing entirely to remove the ability to make decisions and choices on behalf of all users.
Can't say I'm thrilled to learn this.

No, "regardless" it shouldn't be there to confuse 99.999% of our home users that would not understand what to do - remember we have over 35 million users, we can't just cater to the <.001% on something we know confuses 99.999%.

That said, we will be have the option of a more advanced real-time after the initial 5.0 release that will allow you to set the default action and also have the options on the display window - that will be OFF by default, but advanced users can turn that on.

Also remember that anything quarantined can be restored with a couple simple mouse clicks!

SUPERAntiSpy, thanks for taking time to replay in this topic. I suspect it's not an easy job

IMO automatic blocking is a common practice these days: Avast does it by default, along with Panda Cloud, Vipre and Norton. I didn't test rest of AV so it's hard to comment on them. Avira can do an automatic blocking in paid version only and do some form of a quick scan automatically after a malware have been found by an resident component. I can't remember EAM behavior in that area.

If SAS is blocking malware from running and do a mandatory quarantine before any other action is performed it's a good practice as long as user is able to define list of whitelisted/allowed applications.

I hope that this option will be implemented very soon, because it's not a normal decision for a security program to automatically quarantine the threats by default,at least for me.And if something goes wrong, and the file with the FP can't be restored?(PCAV had these kind of problems, just an example)

As I indicated above, ALL ITEMS removed are in the QUARANTINE and CAN be restored with a few simple mouse clicks

Assumed you are able to do those few simple mouse clicks, which is kinda hard, if you get a BSOD loop because of a system file/driver nuked by a false positive.

Posting screenshots and info is ok, I just don't want the link "public" yet so it won't end up on every download site until we are tested and ready!

We are looking at full public pre-release next week.

Doing some testing on Win XP SP3 VM do have to say the scanning is really fast and it catches good amount of infections but sometimes after the required reboot(as suggested by SAS after cleaning) I get trouble to get the system get to working again. So have to rollback to prev snapshot

It's been a week, any chance it will be released today? I've been checking your site all week.

I just learned from a rep on the SAS forum that the final release of v.5 will be in 2 to 3 months from now.

Who said that? Certainly not any member of SUPERAntiSpyware - we are just finalizing the new updater that reduces the update time on product updates drastically and then we'll drop full pre-release (worldwide) then the product will be released - we are on the home stretch now

SAS 5 is really gonna be good it has faster scans(I have seen the difference) better cleaning abilities(again checked when I installed both of them on different systems) and ofcourse nice GUI too
I just hope they have incremental updates on cards

Nick,

Here is the thread from an Advance Member with the misinformation:

http://forums.superantispyware.com/i...580-version-5/

How soon do you expect v. 5 to be final release?

Thanks

V. 5 will not have incremental updating. See thread below:

Nick, I'm just gonna slap my forehead on your behalf so you don't have to. You must have enough red marks already.
(You can pay me back some other time.)

greyowl,
siliconman01 is just a regular Joe volunteering his time
giving advise at Nicks forum..he does not work or represent SAS
at all!!

His guess only

Code:
siliconman01 stated I suspect that the final release will come out 2-3 months after pre-release testing starts...maybe earlier, maybe later
