    Hi,

I'm happy user of full version of Prevx with SafeOnline. I was wondering, do I need to run other AV software (avast or maybe the new AVG) along with it? I know about additional layer etc., but is it really necessary? o_O

Do not know if it's necessary, but I find it interesting to use more than one layer of protection, I think adding some AV like Avast! (File / Network / Web) that is very light is something to think about, it will not weigh heavily on your system and you will get a much better protection. :thumb:

    Sorry for my english!

It depends on your own mindset and you other security setup.

I for one, am running it alone, but it dosent mean I am encouriging evryone to do so.
As my setup is based on default-deny, AV isn't really that important part of it.
That's why I am not worried to run prevx as my only AV.

True I run my Laptop with Dual Boot Win 7 32bit & 64bit with Prevx as my only realtime Anti-Malware and very, very light but you have to do what you have to for you to feel safe I have many On-Demand scanners and all they find are Yummy cookies! :D

Funny how we have the exact same setup TH! :) (I don't have my complete setup in signature because people tend to accuse your for being more or less biased in discussions)

Will it conflict with Avira or Avira with it?

Sorry, but i wouldn't only rely on it, and as it plays well with other Antimalware, you can have the best of both :thumb:

Not here anyway v9 :thumb: Nor should it with anyone else.

Prevx and Avira get along quite nicely together. I have run that combo quite often.

Not trying to be nosy, just curious, among most of the threads I've read, they all have something in common, they all weigh in at "too much" and how much is "too much"

So it begs the question "how many fire walls" "how many anti-virus how many anti-spyware applications" "how many windows defender applications" "how many SpwareBlaster" "how many" o_O

    Hogndog..*puppy*

I think it first started with "bigger is better"

    People

Why would you want to add another application that has the same deficiencies as Prevx o_O By that i mean - they all use the "reactive approach" The bad guy does this so now the antivirus/anti-malware program has to cover the user's azz by signature coverage. Heuristics are fine but still don't come close to signature detection levels. These type of programs are "Always Playing Catchup!"

You should be concentrating your efforts in other areas. Have an image to use as that will clean better than any AV/AM app. And use Virtualization - either to protect your browsing session or your entire system.

I image weekly and keep several images to fall back on (go back in time) if need be. I also use free file sync to backup several times a week very important areas like email/browser profiles and settings.

Once you put this into practice, you'll realize that Prevx by itself is just fine ;) and stop wasting all that time in the AV/AM sections

I used Prevx paid version a year ago, it works just fine when left to its own, later, add the Firewall, I went to Comodo, then SpywareBlaster. had to debate SpywareBlaster or Windows Defender, I decided to use both. My machine is running like Cheetah... I'm a beta tester for Avira, almost two years now, put simply, a "fantastic application".

Would there be any reason why you could not use two cloud products, such as Prevx and Panda Cloud?

No I have tried both and work well with each other but I feel it's unnecessary! To me if someone really wanted something else would be Prevx with SafeOnline and a free AV of there choice!

I take it that you mean a free Av that doesn't use the cloud as Panda has a free version.

Maybe this will answer your question? I used Prevx along with Microsoft Defender, I was trying an anti-virus "Rising Anti-virus" forgetting the Defender was running, (it was in the background) (Prevx said to close any other applications then proceed) $75.00 later I had my computer back "I forgot windows defender"

    simple answer - no

Prevx is more than suffcient, infact my pc has never been sooo clean that these past however many years of using Prevx.

FYI, i use online armor as of 2 days ago alongside prevx, as i found some old serials from back-in-the-day when online armor was on offer, nice to have the extra hips support telling me what certain files are trying to do.
