Default Czech Privacy Watchdog Stops Google Street View

Quote:
The Czech Office for Personal Data Protection, or UOOU, has turned down an application by Google Inc. (GOOG) to collect personal data necessary for its Street View mapping service. "We've completed an administrative action which turned down Google's request to register as an entity allowed to collect private and personal data," UOOU spokesperson Hana Stepankova told Dow Jones Newswires Tuesday.
The UOOU ruling is a set back for the U.S. company's efforts to complete its Street View photo imaging service for the Google Maps program, launched in the Czech Republic and other European countries last year.
