Default Startup Disk has no Windows volume

I'm using NTFS for Mac version 8. My Startup Disk pane of System Preferences has no Windows volume. I have the choice of holding option key during restart / startup, and waiting to choose the volume, or clicking the "Set as Startup" in the System Preferences > NTFS For Mac pane, and enter my password. Unfortunately, that latter option does not have an "unset". Once the "Set as startup" has been clicked, it continues to have the Windows volume as the startup choice forever! Is there any way to make the Windows volume simply appear as a choice in the Startup Disk pane of OS X? That would be much simpler. As it is, I am stuck with the one-way change of Windows as the startup unless I think to sit at the computer with my finger on the option key.
