    MSE once again beating paid-for alternatives, good to see.

    edit: MSE scored the same as Avira (4.0) for "protection"? Does that mean detection? I'd be highly surprised if MSE could get close to Avira...

    Avast didn't do so hot there on protection.

    MSE can beat Avira in removal with no problems.

    Great report taking into account many factors, like it!

    ESET got 99% detection of the Wildlist in June? :eek:
    Are their marketing team and fanboys finally going to agree it is of little use now instead of boasting about a record of something which doesn't really mean much?

    Panda: Internet Security 2010 best score in protection and repair, nº1. They tested Panda 2010 but panda 2011 has been already release with much more improvements.

    Panda scored only 101 on avarege slow-down os computer. I think it is the lightest antivirus out there...

    Edit: Bitdefender scored only 29

    Maybe this is why Bitdefenders scored worst at protection and repair. If you got infected you will spend much more time, resources, slow-downs...

    Anyway they have improved the performance a 50% in 2011 version: http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/antivirus/
    Also they have fully integrated the Cloud in this version.

    The total average of slow-downs is 251 so 101 is not a bad result

    Impressive showing from Panda, no doubt! Now if it just weren't so EXPENSIVE... :(

    It's obvious quite a few of them need to start working on removal as well as detection. Some of them, like Avast and AVG have terrible (to me) scores. Of course, one could argue that with a very high detection/prevention score (AVG really impressed me), one needn't be TOO concerned over removal.

    Go for protection! Use a drive imager. Don't need no stinking removal. :shifty:

    I only just realized they have breakdown PDF's, they seem VERY professionally done. Hats off to AV-Test.
    MSE FP's April=0 May=0 June=0 Legit programs blocked=0 heh....
    MSE 0 day protection, April:53% June:74% massive leap, keep on improving please!
    Detection of rootkits: 100% :)

    According to this MSE is one of the medium-lightest AV's. MSE slowdown:163 Avast slowdown:338 (one of the worst) So much for people saying Avast is lighter than MSE, at least according to this test. Lightest was Avira with 98, nice!

    I wonder if Panda's free cloud scanner would get the same detection, love to see free products kicking butt in these tests.

    ESET has been going downhill since they made v3 in my opinion. v2 was their golden era. No pointing in paying when you can get better products for free.

    Well, I'm sure "light" and "slowdown" are going to vary by system, especially slowdown. Considering that the free Avast alone has multiple shields, it's no surprise they are heavier. As far as slowdown, I use Avast free and to be honest, if there is a testable slowdown, I don't see it.

    @Bellgamin: That's exactly my thoughts, if malware doesn't get in, it doesn't need cleaning. Surprisingly AVG is something I may consider again (providing the free and paid AV engines are the same, which is usually the case). MSE looks VERY good, my only issue with them is updates (from what I experienced), are silent. I kind of like being told my definitions are being updated. Strange, I know :)

    My only problem with MSE is that its not compatible with Chrome or Opera. If I download eicar.com with Chrome, for exemple, MSE does not detect it. It only detects eicar.com if I try to execute it or do an on-demand scan.

    Well that sucks. AV software should not be browser dependent, IMHO.

    Avast... meaning "A vast improvement is needed. Slowdown 338; protection 3.5"

    How about that Gdata? (123 slo-dn/5.5 prot)!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    19 AVs tested. 13 passed. The 6 that failed ... hmmmm o_O
    I use Chrome and Opera fine, it hardly makes a difference if it's "compatible" or not. Just means it will detect malware slower using them, not that it won't detect it at all. It will still catch it before it executes.
    Unless I didn't understand you correctly, it tells you on the link which failed and which passed, it's the "certified" field.
