Maxthon was my favorite back in the day, when IE was still more compatible with sites than then Opera/FF. The new one is nice as well (although the smiley box should be smaller by default). They should have just gotten rid of the dual engine and gone webkit only.

There's also an android version. Wish they would port it over to OSX/Linux.

They still release the Gecko-engined Maxthon 2. I've always liked it but I can't seem to get its adblocker to work properly, even though I had another go at it. So I uninstalled it. Maxthon 3 works really well on my desktop computer, I use a PortablApps version running on the C-Drive on my notebook. I also use portable versions of Maxthon a lot at work. You're probably right about losing the dual engine, it's my favourite WebKit browser to date.

I'm with you on the smiley box as well. That's why I usually use skins, 'Snapper' is a particular favourite at the moment.

I'm testing Maxthon Portable. It's an awesome browser, but it lacks an ad-blocking solution that supports ADB+ lists.
