Default F-Prot Antivirus 6.0.9.4

F-Prot Antivirus 6.0.9.4 (Updated Version)

F-Prot is a quick and easy to use antivirus software package, specially designed to protect your data from virus infection and to remove any virus that may have infected your computer system. Running on all Windows versions, this security software package has various components that help keep your system secure from viruses, backdoors, trojans and other malicious programs. F-Prot includes the RealTime Protector, a memory-resident monitoring utility that observes all files accessed on your system, a Scheduler where you can set the Scanner to make automatic scans or updates on your system at any time and an Updater to manage all signature updates. In addition, the program's innovative and integrated heuristic detection capabilities provide the best possible protection against unknown future threats that may emerge. FRISK Software's antivirus experts maintain an active vigil around the clock to catch new threats in their infancy and to provide our customers with new virus signature files as soon as possible.

News:-

FRISK Software has released F-PROT Antivirus for Windows 6.0.9.4

6.0.9.4 contains a new version of our antivirus scanning engine.

The new scanning engine includes a number of improvements, better performance, fewer false positives, improved heuristic detection and an improved detection rate overall.

F-prot for DOS was the 3rd AV I ever used -- back in olden times when dinosaurs roamed the earth. (Dr Solomon was the first AV I used. Norton was the 2nd.) Ergo, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the *Frisk-y* little Icelandic prize known as F-prot.

I hope that folks who use F-prot's new engine for a while will report back on what they think about it.

The proponent of F-prot is Frisk, an Icelandic outfit. They are a small company in a nation that has encountered REALLY bad economic times. I doubt that Frisk can afford to give away their product. They won't be around very long if they do not make money. Programmers have to eat, too -- right?

Absolutely agree with you Sir...And its really good to see that they are still developing their AV product. They haven't let this product die..

No big changes as usual; development of this version 6 has been very slow .

Frisk are getting left behind now as regards adding new features such as a behaviour blocker, web scanner( works with all browsers), firewall, HIPS. Their small team is just about coping with signature updates and even minor bugs take a long time to fix.

Even Dr Web, another small vendor, has shown much greater progress.

Sadly, its past advantages over other AVs of a small footprint, cost-effectiveness, quick scan speed and excellent support has gradually been eroded away.

They have pulled out of testing by av-comparatives now but their last tests over there showed them to be a declining force as regards detection.

Recent results over at Virus Bulletin confirm middle of the pack detection abilities.

Even on Shadowserver , I know not the best testing site!, it has fallen away compared to its performance 18-24 months ago.

If I am not wrong F-Prot engine is used in a number of AV like Authentium, Multicore, G Data and F-Secure. Its heuristic is called Eldorado. It is also there in RVS.

Not anymore in F-Secure, since the 2009 or 2010 version.

Well Dr.Web isn't as small as one can think, if you mean how many employees they have?

Frisk Software has 50 employees.
While Dr.Web got 250.
