May be the new release is actually better. The benchmarks clearly say so.
Also, may be this test will finally clear the myth that MSE is light and does not have much performance impact.

I have installed MSE on both my desktop and laptop but after these results I'm going back to Avast...sweet and light.

I noticed that the three A vendors ( Avast, AVG and Avira) are on top in many of the tests.:)

Great work by Raymond, most informative :thumb: .
Emsisoft AM felt extremely heavy for me recently so I ditched it,this was born out by these tests.

In detection tests also A-Squered (now Emsisoft).

For me AVira 10 is heavier than Avira 9. May be that's why AVG beats them.

Lighter and faster may be doing a less thorough job though. It all comes down to what you value more, better protection or more speed. Some of the product that do best here I wouldn't run. It is interesting to see the results though.

These tests, combined with long term AV test performances, and also considering ease of use, presentation, features, I believe avast! comes at the top.

The result I don't understand is the time for the second full scan where KIS is 303 but KAV is 964

Honestly, I suspect there are people that look at the basic/plan GUI, and think therefore it is light. I have never found it to be light when I have tried it.

People also have to be careful about what they "feel" is light, and stick to benchmarks. For instance a lot of people say Windows 7 feels a lot lighter than Vista, but in truth there is not really much difference in most benchmarks.

Please take note of the version number.
KIS engine has been updated with an (a) at the end of the version number.

Hmm I think you can make the conclusions by yourself and BTW he tested on a specific hardware which may not be same for all so it may vary:)

Absolutely agree with you... If you want to test and choose a solution for yourself, then try it yourself..:)

A balance between performance and protection must be achieved.
Detection rates are very important for antivirus.
But, indeed, very good performance tests.

avast did not make that bad ;)

Raymond, your site is simply awesome and good of you to stop by.

A lot of work went into your test, and I'm sure many here appreciate it. With all the info, you'll hopefully save others a lot of time in testing and searching for another program.

Yeah even I would agree with this, it was a bit heavy when it was v4.5 but was really improved but still I would consider it heavy:(

The full scan test results seem wrong, according to this a lot of products can do a full/system scan in just a few minutes. Are you sure it wasn't meant to be a quick scan comparison?
