virtual disk

Could someone explain the purpose of the virtual disk.I have just started using the free version and can see i can save files to it ,and they are saved after a reboot.Is that all it is ,a download folder.If i download a virus to it, am i infected

The actual answer is NO (it's a convenience feature so you can save data/documents across restarts when the System Safe virtualization is active) and YES because it can protect content stored within from prying eyes when dismounted as it will be seen at that point as just a very large file with fragmented space.

Whether the latter rises to the level of "protection" depends on your intent and the skills of those who may also have access to your computer.

The protection is when you activate the System Safe virtualization, the trust/no trust of programs already existing on your real system partition, and the Virus Guard feature.
