I created an image and did a test restore twice using the created restore media. Unfortunately both times I get a "File I/O error" at the same place, copied so far 5.6 gig, read 6.5 gig, to copy 2.1, write so far 6.5.
File I/O error is not very descriptive and it doesnt tell me what file it was trying to read/write. I am glad the test wasnt on a production drive, the partially restored image will not boot. Can anyone assist with this error? |

Hi,
I got the same error. It totally destroyed my C drive. This happened with about 10G to complete of a 32G image While restoring, the error popped up, the screen froze, and the keyboard and mouse became disabled. I was eventually forced to power off and restart. The computer could not boot. I had to re-install XP. I noticed that the Dell PC Restore partition disappeared. The image is stored on a Seagate USB external hard drive. I want to make another attempt at restoring the backup. Does anyone have an idea about this error? |

File I/O error means that Restore wizard failed to read from archive or write to the target.
First of all, check Archive Integrity from Paragon product. If it reports 0 errors, check target HDD surface via Vendor's utilities or third-party software (e.g. mHDD). CHKDSK /f also will be useful before surface test. It should show if there are any bad blocks.

Thanks for the response.
I will do what you suggested and try another restore. It was important to know what the error referred to. It may take me a few days, but I will let you know how it worked out. |
