Default ESET Config Editor - Startup Scanner

Hello all! I'm going through the ESET Configuration Editor to make a new installation package. Some of the entries have descriptions and some don't.

One that I'm wondering about right now is the "Scanner (Startup Scanner)". I assume this is a scan that runs when Nod32 starts up. Is this correct? If so, how necessary is a scanner like this (i.e. if I turn this scan off will I seriously compromise my systems?). If it is a minor thing, I would rather not scan and have the computer run better right at startup.

Thanks.

A startup scan is triggered via the appropriate scheduled task. It is an important layer of protection that I would never recommend to disable. Startup scans should have minimal effect on performance.
