Default Partition C: eliminate

Hi
Background: on a hard drive installed: on the active partition C: a WIN XP with NTLDR and BOOT.INI, and on partition E: is another WIN XP.
The WIN XP on C: to be completely eliminated.
The WIN XP is to be started directly from the MBR.
What do I do?
1st MBR modify? or
2nd E: active and NTLDR in E: / or copy
3rd ??

If E: isn't currently setup to boot independently from C:, I think you should just need to set E: Active and copy the booting files to E: (boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com).

Assuming the E: partition was created with XP, the boot sector should already be set.

Once it's working, remove any unnecesary lines from the boot.ini file.

Thank you for the answer. But it is not working.

Perhaps because E: is a logical partition.

That will be why.

You could convert it to Primary with Paragon PM ( not with the free version of PM , sadly ).

Depends on your current layout - how many partitions/logical drives you have.

Assuming you can boot in, please post a screenshot of Disk Management window

Looks like you only have one Primary and one Extended.

You should be able to rt click E , and select Make Partition Primary ( Machen Primar Partition).

Thanks for the reply. What are the possible consequences of this action?
Is the boot remain possible. Can C: remain primary. Must E: active simultaneously be made

Hopefully, you have already created an Entire Disk Image backup. This is best to do before making changes like this (just in case something goes wrong).

E: will need to be set Active if you want that partition to boot. You will also need to copy the XP booting files to the partition. You would do the conversion first and then set it Active.

C: can remain Primary, but not Active.
