Default Evaluating free backup 10

I try to restore a file that is about 5 levels down on the folder tree. I get to the folder that should contain the file and the folder is empty. Why?
Further investigation trying to browse to a file I find that I cannot find any files and most folders appear empty. Again why?

You had the same issue with Acronis, couldn't get macrium to work , or Windows System image.

That has to indicate an issue with your system.

I would begin with a thorough check disk of your system. Start > Run > "cmd" chkdisk /r

If something is corrupted, your backup will be of no use.
