Default What is the best touch phone?

Is it Apple iPhone( 4G is about the be released)? or some HTC android based phone?

What do you think? I am thinking to buy and trying to decide one of the two.

I haven't heard anything about Apple's 4G iphone but I use the 3G one which I feel has a very smooth touch. Don't know much about HTC but I have a friend who has HTC but I didn't find much of a difference. I think you can also have a look at the new Samsung Wave which is also due to be released

EDIT: As you have mentioned that you want to choose only from those two I would say to go for Apple

HTC Incredible (verizon) or HTC Evo (sprint).....1`GHz processor, they fly, they're iPhone killers.

I'm talking current..something right now.

All that yet to be seen power of the upcoming iPhone 4g..and it can't do flash or multitask yet?

By the time it's out (the iPhone 4g) ...HTC will have a faster one on the burner about to come out...they'll be doing 6 month product cycles much like ATI vs nVidia in the gaming graphics world. Seems the new iPhone 4g will be coming by mid summer....as the sudden huge sale of current stock is about to happen, witness the huge sale Walmart is about to have on them.

Why the massive overstock of current iPhones? Because the Droids kicked it to #3 slot in sales...#1 = RIM, #2 = Droid, and iPhone slipped to #3 in sales volume.

iphone 4g (and all ipod touch/iphone devices as well) will have multitasking with the new firmware.

and the overstock of current gen iphones could also be a response to all the leaked photos of the iphone 4g and news that it will be announced at the next developers conference (i think thats what they call it) in June im pretty sure. so people dont really want to waste their money on old tech when they KNOW thers a new one right around the corner.

I've yet to see the confirmed....I've only read "might have" and other speculation. The ones that mention it might have it..call it an "awesome new feature". Uhm..."new"? Welcome to what others have already been doing.

ther is no speculation lol, its already been demonstrated at their LAST conference wen they showed the v4 firmware beta, people who are using the v4 beta (devs mostly) have the multitasking ability already, Jobs demonstrated the multitasking right on the stage lol... as well as the ability to create app folders and such.

Seems a god competition between Android phone and iPhone.

I just wonder if the android phones by HTC are really smooth and slick like iPhone, esp the touch screen!

Seems more of a network issue rather than phone itself!

Perhaps this is the same situation as described on xda-developers:

Quote:
I am using HTC desire (T-mobile UK) for past 28 days. Most of the time my friends tell me that they are not able to reach me. They get the message something like not reachable.

I did not know what was the problem initially. But finally I found that the issue was when I browse internet. At my office I only get '2G' signal inside the office building. The problem is when I am browsing internet in my office (using the available 2G signal) then I cannot receive any voice calls. Who ever try to call me while I am browins in 2G will get a message "*** The mobile number you have called is currently unavailable please call again later ***"
This problem does not accur when I browse internet in '3G' or 'H'.

Is this the issue with T-mobile network or with the HTC desire phone.. please help.. Thank you

And answer as to why:

Quote:
This is a limitation of GSM/GPRS. If you have a PDP context (GPRS conection) but *no* activity is occuring i.e. no data transferred at that specific time, then someone should be able to ring you and the connection will just be suspended while they do. However, if the GPRS connection is active at the time then the channels needed by the the network to page the mobile are in use and the person calling will get an engaged tone. This a perfectly normal limitation of a 2G network and not a fault of either the phone or the carrier. Do you not have W-FI at work you could use?

You are buying the network, not just the phone. Verizon Wireless has the better network hands down. So if you are really set on the iPhone, you'll be losing out on that. I have the Moto Droid and love it.

Two weeks into my first experience with an Android phone (HTC Desire) - I am impressed. Its amazingly slick at running apps/tasks. Everything is really good, so far.

Deals on Android phones in the UK are pretty amazing. I got my HTC Desire free on an 18 month contract @ £25 a month. For an Iphone ... I would have had to hand some cash upfront - I think the equivalent deal for Iphone requires nearly £200 for the phone ... + the 18 month contract price.
