Check out this Blog Post from Raymond at Raymond.cc.

It seems to be a very interesting and useful service I think.
It's like an AV with multiple scanning engines, BUT for websites this time:D

This is _REALLY_ misleading. It isn't scanning with anti-virus engines, it's simply checking a collection of reputation databases to see if the domain/URL has a bad reputation. Of which I'm surprised it doesn't use SmartScreen which is probably the most effective of all.

That being said, a website like this still proves quite useful.

Tested two links from MDL. The first was detected only by WOT. The second was detected by several of the scanners.

Hey it is adding new tools everyday... So, there is chance of incorporation of SmartScreen  . But do you think SmartScreen has lot more to say above MDL?
It also uses MDL as one of the scanner.:D

If MDL itself is included, is there much need of SmartScreen? I mean does it have more sources than MDL?

Well I don' think that SmartScreen is connected to MDL in anyway.
Since it's a feature inside of IE and nothing else.

But MS is adding news sites to the SmartScreen filter everyday.

And if it would be true that the SmartScreen filter gets sites form the "users" who use IE browse MDL. That means that everysite you visit with IE get's reported to MS, meaning not just MDL but all sites you visit with IE.
Wich I find really hard to belive in terms of privacy:doubt:

Or do you mean that the users of MDL sends the sites to MS (MANUALLY)?

Yup, there are a few people that do that. Since most people use IE, it's the easiest and fastest way to help.

This is certainly an interesting project that shows a lot of promise, but the results should only be taken as a guide due to this present limitation:

"the report is cached for 10 days. This means that URLVoid will only generate a new report once every 10 days for a single website."

If a website has not been rated by a service it is given the clean rating at URLVoid. Very bad, in my opinion, especially for newly created websites.

Hopefully, it'll be changed. Here is a snip from an email I recieved:

'thank you for your suggestion, it is a good idea to add "untested" if the
domain is not tested by its engine, we will consider it and if approved it
will be implemented in urlvoid engine in the next weeks.'
