When is the Expiry notification suppose to let you know when it is time to renew? My brother has NOD32 and the date is 7/5/2010 which is May 7th 2010 and he still gets definition updates and he does not get notified to renew but I told him to go ahead and renew now as it is Expired! And now he's trying to renew and is having a hard time as the renewal page on eset.com is giving him the run around so I told him to call 1-866-499-ESET (3738 ) why is such a pain to renew? I will reply here after he is done calling support!

Are you sure his Windows settings are not configured to display date as MM/DD/YYYY instead of DD/MM/YYYY. So his expire date is July instead of May?

Good Question From his email from last time? And maybe it doesn't matter in the NOD32 GUI?
I know mine says 13/1/2012 so I figure his would be the same as it's default Canadian XP Pro installation?

The way the date is displayed in the NOD32 GUI is the way it is configured in Windows. As what is default setting in a Canadian version of XP I can not answer :).

As for the mail, if its normal when a date is displayed like DD/MM/YYYY I guess it the 7th of May after all.

As why it is still updating now is magical! I renewed my old license couple of days ago which was about to expire next Saturday and it was already 'bugging' me for at least two weeks (I think) that my license was expiring.

Thanks for your help but if someone ESET can confirm what is the true Expiry date and the format of DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY!

    Hi TH,

I'm not from ESET, but maybe this might be a little bit of help:

    I am using XP-home Dutch.
The Dutch date setting is DDMMYYYY
But I am using the English version of NOD32/EAV4 (well, I bought the licence here in Holland).
The expire date format is the Dutch one (see screenie)

TH, I just checked my NOD32 v4.2.40.0 and it is MM/DD/YYYY (XP Pro, Ontario, Canada)

    Thanks Guys,

Well that's really confusing as my Windows 7 32bit Canadain says 13/1/2012 there must be a better way for the date format! But the email must be the answer as the date is
But what really is it because my Brother can't remember LOL hence my Question?

Naming the month would probably solve a lot of confusion. :)

If you got to Control Panel --> Region and Language you can change the way the date is displayed. There you can see which settings the NOD32 GUI uses to display the date and also alter it if necessary.

I called ESET just now at 1 (866) 343-ESET (3738 ) and they confirmed it was July 5th 2010 and he renewed so it's good till July 5th 2012 so the date on his machine is MM/DD/YYYY which is XP Pro but mine on Windows 7 still says DD/MM/YYYY so go figure! o_O

Also the first number I posted in my first post is not working and needs to be changed to the one above!

    Case closed!

    Hi,

I have a general question for ESET after having read this posting by Triple Helix (TH).

Assuming that I understand this posting from TH right, he/his brother was able to renew the licence before the date of expiration while the counting of the days for the new licence is starting on the expiration date of the previous licence.
That has always been the case with the Dutch reseller too.
However, when I renewed my licence earlier this year, I learned that that policy has been changed. They told me that the counting of the days is starting at the date of the purchase of the new licence.
In the case of TH's brother this would mean that the new expiration date is somewhere about 13 May 2012 (depending on the exact date of purchase of the renewal) and not on 5 July 2012.

This is now not about TH or his brother, but about the general policy of ESET with respect to the expiration date of a renewed licence.

I would like to ask ESET for a clear answer:
What is the general policy of ESET on this?
Is it the same for all resellers?
Or can every reseller have its own policy about this?

    Or in other words:
When exactly starts and ends your renewed licence?
And is this the same for all resellers?

    Hi Dan,

Thanks much buddy for your reply !!!

First of all: of course I do like the way your reseller handles it, no doubt about that!

At my case: the reseller I bought the renewed licence from, is NOD32-Netherlands aka SpicyLemon.

After I bought my renewal (for one year) from them earlier this year before my excisting licence would expire, I noticed that the new expiration date was one year after the purchase date and that it was not one year after the expiration date of the excisting licence date.
I did tell that reseller about that.
They told me that indeed the policy was changed.
    Their Dutch email says clearly:
Translated: end-date is now indeed the day of renewal.

Only after I made them aware of it, they gave me a new expiration date (one year after the ending of the excisting licence).

    It's either one of these:
1- The Dutch reseller SpicyLemon made a mistake.
2- The Dutch reseller SpicyLemon is not following the rules from ESET.
3- Each reseller can have its own rules.

That's not fair as I get mine from eset.com and I get to keep my Original username and password and they just extend it, how about you do they give you a new one every-time you renew?

    Hi Daniel,

In the past I used to get every time a new username and password as far as I can remember, but I certainly can have a look at my emails about that if needed; I keep my emails, and I have been a NOD32 user for about 9 or 10 years. (I do remember the old days when NOD32 was discussed at the old Becky's Forums).

OK, back to more recent years. Yes, I got every time a new username and password.
But when I tried earlier this year to buy a renewal, I had problems, see:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=264949

At the Dutch reseller site SpicyLemon, from which I had to buy the renewal, my username/password was not recognised. After having contacted them, SpicyLemon confirmed that they too could not find them (username/password) and then they gave me a new username/password. And after that I saw the issue about the expiration date.
