Anyone using this browser in linux? any opnions? is developed on pair with the windows version?

You don't need it in Linux. Just use Chromium, it is the same thing.

I can be wrong, but google chrome not have all that thing about browser id and stuff like that? This is not the advantage of SWR Iron or compile Chromium?

SRW Iron is purportedly more secure than Chromium, because it has removed trackability that is inherent in Chromium - read the website for SRW Iron.

Let's get one thing straight, you've linked to Google Chrome, not Chromium. They are different things.

Right you are! I was mislead by the google chrome link on the Chromium web page at: http://www.chromium.org/ , and on tracing the proper links down have to question the 693.8 MB size of the compressed tarball for the Chromium browser source "The Chromium codebase consists of hundreds of thousands of files".

so looks like i need stick with firefox or opera... at least until i confirm how the development of SRW Iron goes.

Iron is a great browser. There are many reasons why you'd want to use it and it is rock solid. Check the archives, for example:

Why use Iron at all? It is the same thing as Chromium. Remember Chromium is different than Chrome. Chromium is the open-source project that does not have the tracking stuff in it that Chrome does. Indeed Chromium is the original source. Google takes the Chromium code and modifies it.

I know, but I'm not sure if I can compile it... so I need a already one... and in this moment: chrome or iron... chrome never will touch my machine... so... only have a chance with Iron.... because this i created this thread... to collect information about it... if there is a already chromium version compiled to download, i will use it... no doubts...

You don't need to compile it. On Ubuntu you can just type:

sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

You might have to enable the backport repos, though.

I am sure other distros have it in their repos as well.

THANK YOU. I really not expect that is already in the repositories...: sometimes we make things in the more complicated way... the opensuse repositories:
build.opensuse.org/openSUSE:11.2:Contrib

For Ubuntu, is already here in the 10.04.

Keep in mind that Chromium is sometimes a bit unstable, at least on Ubuntu. Sometimes it will crash on me for no good reason, but it works most of the time.

THX for the advice. But until now i not encountered any great bugs... the only thing i noticed is a little bug in OpenSuse 11.2 KDE, if you choose to "Use system Title Bar and Bordes", not appear the maximize, minimize and close buttons. But this should be addressed quick.
