i found out where opera sessions are stored.
in windows 7 and vista:
C:\users\(username)\appdata\Roaming\Opera\Opera\sessions
in there you will find files with the extension .win

if you wish to export a session simply copy the file from one computer to another and then restore the sessions using the sessions option inside opera.

Go to Help -- About Opera and under Paths. it will show you where your files are directed to and located.

Default Re: Opera 10.52 Snapshot Updates

I have switched to using Internet Explorer for now, ever since updating to version 10.51 Opera has been very slow. An example: to open this thread took 2 minutes and 54 seconds, after waiting close to 2 minutes for the the Wilders forum to open 5 Minutes to get to here! I am using dial-up and I am wondering if they are concentrating on High-speed and forgot about us dial-up people. It does start to speed up after opening a few threads.
Has anybody here got any Ideas why this would be happening? Have I done something wrong?
Anybody else on dial-up having troubles?
I can usually get help on this forum when I have issues with Opera, hope it continues.
Thanks in advance.

I highly doubt Opera is the culprit behind such a delay, but you could try the "Turbo" function that is specifically meant for such low connections. It sounds to me like you just have connection issues, possibly a really crappy number you are getting assigned to connect to.

AFAIK, the DNS bug was not completely fixed in Build 3344 and still there. But I also doubt that Opera is the cause for that user.

Opera 10.52 snapshot build 3347 just released.

hxxp://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/show.dml/

New snapshot focus on nsl and cache
------------------------------------
So we have more fixes for ya. The most important ones are the fix for the nsl issue (waiting for cookie...) and the cache issue.

Please take it for a spin and tell us if you find any new regs related to these fixes.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: it contains the latest changes, but may also have severe issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Opera has it's own Adblocker

I'm using Firefox at this minute

But in Opera....
1) Right Click the web page that you want to block an Advert on.
2) Then I think It's... Block Content
3) Then Click An Advert... To Block All!
OR
4) Hold Down SHIFT Key ( On Keyboard ) - & - Click individual Adverts.
5) Click On... Done

Some people use something called Fanboys .. Something Like That!

Sure someone will give you the link

Just download the "urlfilter.ini" file from hxxp://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/ and copy it to your opera profile folder will do.

No need for any install. Simple.

I'll prefers to leave Windows OS and its system files untouched, after all, there is a way to work on the opera browser software to achieve the same effects.

I am fully with you there, I use Fanboy'z excellent adblocker for this purpose, a big host file also tends to slow down browsing.

But you forget that slow downs only occur if you don't turn off DNS, which you absolutely SHOULD do. Fanboy has always had good lists, certainly better than the craptastic "built in" ad blocker in Opera that doesn't block anything at all, but merely hides things.

As far as I know, Opera never did have any adblocker, the urlfilter.ini is there to make your own list but thats cumbersome, so far Fanboy has blocked 99% of the ads where I surf and thats more than enough for me.

There is this widget by Lex1 for importing Adblock Plus subscriptions. http://widgets.opera.com/widget/16161/

Haven't tried it myself as yet.

Fanboyz's (and any other list as so) will cause a bigger browsing slowdown (assuming the list was of equal domains) than a HOSTS file. The level that the HOSTS file is at can give you the quickest browsing with a list of block sites.

Nope, tried with both, Hosts file slows it down and worse of all, it affects system wide whereas I may only wish it to be browser wise.

Hi all, I was gone for a while and sorry I missed your replies.
I should have mentioned that Internet Explorer opens the web pages in a couple of seconds. The same ones that open so slowly using Opera.
I found in the past that using turbo actually slowed done my Opera setting up a secure site. Just tried a secure site and it took 2 min and 23 secs. With turbo off 1 min. 28 secs.
With Internet explorer 45 secs.
I will turn turbo off and on as needed.
Thanks all.

It really depends on how many tabs open and the sites content loaded.

I was on Opera 10.52 and using fanboy urlfilter and opening just this one tab on Wilders Security page, my task manager shows opera takes about 65,000+

You decide what you want to use.

I'm not sure if anyone else has this same issue, but, I've found that inside Sandboxie, Opera does slow down considerably on some websites. I also am experiencing random crashes and many, many pages and websites not loading properly. Quite often graphic images will either refuse to load or will only load half-way. I very rarely am experiencing this sort of behavior outside of Sandboxie and will look into it on the forums there.
