Default Understanding Windows 7's 'GodMode'

Quote:
By creating a new folder in Windows 7 and renaming it with a certain text string at the end, users are able to have a single place to do everything from changing the look of the mouse pointer to making a new hard-drive partition.

Umm, what is to understand?

It is a control panel, that has grouped every "window" that you will ever see (pretty much) when changing something. So, rather than clicking the network icon in the tray, then clicking "adapter settings", you can just go to the super control panel and find "network" and see every window that you would normally get to from multiple layers of mouse clicks.

It is convenient to have, especially if you are looking to change something and cannot find the place to change it from.

Well, that is no good at all.

I know this works in 7, don't know about Vista. Here is what I did.

Just create a new directory, and name it

Super.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

(copy/paste that as the directory name). You can name it anything as long as you have the .{guid} part. I called mine SPanel.

If you create this new directory on the root of any harddrive, it will show up easily then when browsing.

That is kinda funny. I found this one somewhere, but presented as an extended control panel. It worked when I tried it using shell:::{GUID} and then I tried the folder.{GUID} and it worked great.

As they say, it is only a namespace, same as typing this in command prompt

explorer.exe ::{21ec2020-3aea-1069-a2dd-08002b30309d}

brings up the control panel. Funny though how this particular {GUID} acts differently as a folder like that.

It works with Vista, and it has a rather fancy icon.
