Default The iPad

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, announced the iPad yesterday at his keynote speech. Would you purchase it when it comes out in March? Or is it nothing special and just a bigger version of the iPod Touch/iPhone.

Quote:
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage. It comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.

The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size, when it comes out worldwide in March.

the only purpose i see of this product, is if u have money to spend and just want some small portable entertainment unit, thats it really, no ones gunna do things that theyd do on their laptops like heavy typing or publishing and nobody is gunna carry it around with them everywer like an iphone.

just a time wasting toy basically.

I can assure you it wouldn't provide the same comfort level, lol. Seriously though, there's absolutely nothing on it yet that is "game-changing" or a breakthrough of any kind. I hear it's been updated with software to provide 3G phone service...that's going to look real cute. And, again, if Flash doesn't show up at least at some point (completely idiotic move on Apples part for not doing this yet), then it's almost game over for any decent web experience.

agreed, just a giant ipod touch for people who are bored at home and want to play with something but man, if it had flash and java i can see it being a pretty cool multimedia/game platform. (not anywer close to console or anything, but a fun experience still)

iDon't get it. For me, the iPad doesn't seem useful considering the alternatives, so I see no chance of me ever buying one. But, that's me. For some, it may be just what the doctor ordered. I don't think the iPad will be a very huge success on the market, though, as compared to the iPhone for example.

It's just another evil gadget to stare at when you don't stare at the other one. Do we really need gadgets 24/7? What's next - a waterproof one so I can "browse" (or whatever) while I'm taking a shower?

Recently i manipulated an ipad wifi, some softs requires internet connection then only wifi is not good, plus with all new gadgets dont see the real investment, if its a gift then why not. In this case i will play N.O.V.A on it.

Never buy an iPad or iAnything smaller. The leaves room for MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, iMac or Mac Pro.

I have absolutely no use for a Ipad . Appel Marketing has done its job well, convincing people that they cannot live without a Apple product. In this case a Ipad.

All Apple products are always way too expensive for me to even think about them. For that $600 I could buy a quite powerful PC, which I'd be much more happy about than if I would get an iPad.

I won't say iPhone 4 sucks (Because IMO it doesn't)

But Apple influences people so easily, such as with their antenna issues, they started putting up flaws of other cellphones with antenna placement and people were convinced easily that it was not their fault (BUT NO ONE ever complained about those cellphones)

BTW, i stated i would never buy anything Apple and i'm going strong with my promise

Well !!! Who would have believed it!

Enterprises 'jazzed' about iPad, says analyst
Biggest impact is when the tablet replaces paper or finds completely new uses
