I'm interested in learning from members who use IE browser, which version they are running... and why? I finally upgraded to IE8, after having stayed with IE7 for a long time. I've read that IE6 is simply unsafe and should not be used.

Actually I have never used IE so I don't bother to upgrade. So I have selected IE 6 as my answer but I would suggest to get updated version of Internet Explorer ie v8:) if you are using IE

I don't use IE but I still keep it up-to-date so my vote is IE8.

Yes, I was hoping to learn from members who use IE browser, which version they are running... and why?
If people who don't use IE still vote in the poll, the results are skewed.
In fact, the more I read the comments, the less valid the results look.

I use IE8 as my default browser, and upgraded for its security/privacy features:

    - SmartScreen Filter
    - Cross Site Scripting Filter
    - Domain highlighting in the address bar
    - Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
    - InPrivate Browsing and InPrivate Filtering

It hasn't let me down yet, and hasn't caused me any problems or slowdowns.

Only an innocent joke. Really I use IE only for manual update.

I use IE8. I keep with the latest versions for security reasons. However, there is a government website that I go to that won't work with IE8 so I have a Win2000 virtual machine with a fully patched IE6 that I use for that.

Usage share by version gives it to ie6.

    Browser Version Market Share

Although the user agent cannot be an accurate way to measure browser usage.

If you don't use the latest internet explorer you'll notice every now and again a redirect when starting ie to Microsoft for downloading the current version. This reminder and decreasing website support for ie6 should soon tip it the other way.

It depends. I think, the newest IE is much better than pure FFx (without dozens of addons). Microsoft browser is much more secure than previous versions was, its quite speedy (I consist in my experience, not official or not benchmarks). Although, my only love;) is Opera, I think that IE 8 is very good Internet browser. But I might be wrong:D
