    Trend Micro Browser Guard

    http://blog.trendmicro.com/trend-micro-to-help-proactively-protect-against-zero-day-attacks-like-the-recent-ie-explorer-exploit/

    Download
    http://www.trendmicro.com/Download/product.asp?productid=102

Please note that the link to download the file must contain the Capital Letter "D" in http:// www.trendmicro.com/Download/product.asp?productid=102

Some other articles point to the download link with a small letter "d". http:// www.trendmicro.com/download/product.asp?productid=102. This results in the file not being able to download

Anyone tried this yet? Is it similar to the Avast web shield?

Only for IE and not freeware? Well, I think there is a better browser guard: AVG LinkScanner :p

AVG Linkscanner is completely flawed. The scanning engine will analyze the contents of the page for vulnerabilities. This is happening before you actually visit the page. Whatever it analyzes MAY NOT be the page you actually end up loading in your browser. So AVG might say a link is good, but because of rotating ads etc. you visit that page a few seconds later and the content is different and you get infected.

AVG Linkscanner sounds cool in theory, but in practice you are better of with some real-time protection.

I think you are wrong, it's scanning in real-time too when you enter the page :)

Chubb, you`re propably right about this one, but i am always a bit sceptical about Trends "free" programs. Just take a look at this http://free.antivirus.com/web-protection-add-on/
