hi
i uninstalled acdsee pro 2.5 but it left (the uninstaller) a lof of keys like Code:
i tried jv16 to delete them but it did not delete so i open regedit and i discovered that i have to change the authorization of these files but they are a lot ,and with regedit i should do manually one after one so is there an alternative regedit that let me change many authorization keys with one click? select many and change thanks i run xp sp3 32bit have a nice day |

I made a little tool called Regedit PsExec which might help you delete the necessary keys.

There isn't a portable version but I made sure the uninstaller removed absolutely everything. There is a fuller description of it at http://ianmutch.webriq.com/customPages/regedit-psexec (sometimes the page takes a while to open).

The installer creates a shortcut on your desktop to Regedit PsExec. Just click on that and it will open regedit with higher than normal privileges.
To use regedit normally, just do as you have always done. Either by using your normal regedit shortcut or typing regedit in the run box. The installation doesn't alter regedit in any way, it just allows you to open it with higher than normal privileges when you use the Regedit PsExec shortcut.

Well, that's a blow. The hash you posted for the setup file is correct. I haven't received reports from anyone that it doesn't work. When you click on the shortcut, open Task Manager and see if regedit is running. It does take a few seconds to open regedit but only a few seconds. (Tested on XP, Vista, and Windows 7).

Try doing it the long way. See this old thread on Wilder's
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=141555 The up to date download link for PsExec is http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897553.aspx I'm wondering if one or more of your security applications is affecting the install. It doesn't normally need a reboot but you could try that if you are willing. Sorry you've had trouble with it.

Glad you were able to delete the keys. You wouldn't be able to use PsExec with jv16 power tools.
I've read that Registrar Registry Manager is good for deleting some stubborn keys. I haven't tried it but there is a free lite version at http://www.resplendence.com/downloads (I would be interested to know if anyone else has trouble installing and using Regedit PsExec).

When you run PsExec for the first time using the batch file method (or by command prompt or by creating a shortcut), it creates a file called PSEXESVC.exe in the Windows folder. This is normal operation of PsExec. Should that file be delted for any reason, PsExec will re-create it again when it next runs.
The Regedit PsExec installer creates that file in the Windows folder before running Regedit PsExec so that it can be removed by the uninstaller. I wanted to make sure that the uninstaller removed everything that was created by using Regedit PsExec.

You could use SUBINACL.EXE with wildcards to change any acdsee registry permissions.

You run Windows, what's not
to trust? If it were me I'd stick with the Ramesh dwnlds. If on the other hand you wanted to see what's inside, I'd suggest JSWare's unpacker. Oh and - "Happy New Years to you too Mantra!" Last edited by GlobalForce : January 1st, 2010 at 06:32 PM. Reason: Adjust |

No, I think by default you don't have access to those. As I recall, XP Home'll require safe mode to take control.
