Alright well heres a bit of a revision and more questions

AV: I am still thinking avast.. my only issue is the fact that it lacks heuristics.. Does that make Avira a better option? and is there something I can supplement avast with? What about using version 5 rather than 4.8.. how good is the beta?

HIPS: As for Threatfire I belive I am going to drop it and just force myselve to become comfortable with defense+.. I have been looking for guides on setting it up better and learning how to handle things it prompts for.

FW: Comodo

On demand: malwarebytes, superantispyware Any other ideas for here?

Other: Norton's UAC tool, keyscrambler, noscript, adblock+

Seems like comodo time machine and returnil have a rather high chance to cause problems so I am probably going to avoid.

Probably will use Shadow Defense.

Hi shinysecure

It is very good as a sandbox [I use it for that purpose], but does not let you test installs of software programs, because it does not have a persistent mode.

For that you would need something like ShadowUser

Take care

Ah ok, Thanks for all the patience... trying to learn a lot while being overwhelmed...

Security before a couple days ago to me was an antivirus, a firewall and some random adware scanners.. Learning A LOT.

If you have MBAM on demand I would drop SAS and grab Hitman Pro.

Of course, since SAS is free and does not use up resources while not running you can keep that as well.
