Default Iobit 360 security 1.3.0 just released

Hi,
Is it MORAL to use this app again ?

Like to hear what the pro from Malwarebytes antimalware would say.

I have a free key, and HATE to waste it.

Hey do as you wish but they are thieves do you want to use a product from a thief?

And this is from me, I would never recommend IObit products for that reason!!!

I've never used their products and after their recent antics I never will.

However I would be curious on detection rates of this new version compared to the previous version.

IObit 360 always flagged Sandboxie as malicious so I took it off my machine. I haven't found any glowing reviews about this program before or after this accusation.

It would be a tougher decision if their product was good, but the real time never worked, and the on-demand sucks since removing the MBAM sigs.

I too have a free 1 year license but I won't use it.

If they will steal from a competitor, they might steal from me.

Change log from Major Geeks:

Quote:
What's new in v1.30:
- Whole new detection database.
- Improved scan engine.
- Fixed general bugs.

http://majorgeeks.com/IObit_Security_360_d6088.html

New database ---> no reason to be blocked from US sites anymore, since the part that was "disputed" isn't there anymore.

For similar reasons the page www.iobit.com/avg-com.html doesn't exist anymore.

And gone is our porn too! http://www.iobit.com/naruto-hentai.html

I say nothing more since any thread on the subject i touch gets locked in seconds.

Ok,i guess i was curious too. They really cleaned up their database this time.

On my "usual" 407 samples testbed:

- Iobit 1.10: 389/407
- Iobit 1.20: 231/407
(posted the results in video in the locked thread).
- Iobit 1.30: 218/407
http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/601/73756144.png

So, yes, this is a whole new database.

I wonder why the detection of your samples has dropped so dramatically with their new build

Well, the most dramatic is from 1.10 to 1.20 (from 389 to 231). From 1.20 (which is the first version after the accusation) ist hasdropped only from 231 to 218.

The "big" cleaning happened in the first version after the accusation (1.20). Now, there was a further cleaning and with 1.30 they are back at major geeks.

I could say more, but i don't want to axe this thread too. I had made a prediction in the locked thread about how this would end, i think this is compatible with that prediction.

Isn't it obvious ? They have removed the signatures of MBAM and possibly other programs from their database.

It's not just my sample. Here's a review by PC Mag of November 13 (so this must be v.1.20, the first version with "removed disputed items"):

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2355888,00.asp

I haven't followed Iobit's detection in the past, but several people here have claimed that it was very good to excellent.

In the above PC Mag review, there is suddenly a quite bad review/detection. Of course it may be a coincidence.

EDIT: The version actually in the screenshots, as i just noted, is 1.10, so it's the "high detection" version, before the "new" database. Still interesting:

Malwarebytes and IObit detected the same threats, for the most part,

Its score of 0.5 points matches that of Malwarebytes

Very true point there.I've used both Smartdefrag and Advanced Systemcare for a long time and really like them both, but now it just doesn't feel right so they had to go.

Also thought both were good but because of their behavior I no longer trust them. Therefore, I will not use their software and will discourage others from doing so.

I personally view the IObit changes as way too late. Sort of like a bank robber returning the stolen loot. They already fell on the proverbial sword.

Unfortunately there are probably millions of users around the world that have no clue as to what has transpired concerning the alleged stolen database and other questionable business practices from IObit, and are willing to purchase a license. Sad isn't it?

Hi,

Surprised to see that the action of Iobit 360 has been proven guilty in the court of public opinion, and even been handed down a death sentence.

perhaps, giving it a bit more time, it may prove itself a leading app again. Mind you, never say "never".

On the another perhaps positive front, Iobit is giving out free keys of "Advanced System Care pro" during US thanksgiving holiday. A product I use , and a good and fair comparison to other top- notched system optimizers.

I am just a side-line onlooker, would not and will never take a side, especially all the facts are yet to be proven in court of law, after all we are the law-abiding citizens( of many different nations)

+1 for Auslogics Disk Defragger
I was glad to see they added file optimization, that was the only thing missing from previous versions that stopped me from using it before.

Fuzzy, old shoe -- I much prefer Puran.

As for IOB360 --- those who refuse to deal with shady outfits should, of course, switch to Linux. Or a Mac
