I think it's much better if people stop believing magazine tests. They have something to lose, the online testers not.
A YouTube tester, such as LanGuy99, uses around 10-15 samples to test different products. While I find the tests entertaining I do not let them influence my decisions. As an example Avira generally has superior detection capabilities, but it didn't do so hot on LanGuy's tests. The fact of the matter is that no AV, IS, or AV + AS combo is going to be 100% on any given day.

I'd also like to mention that while I appreciate the static tests done by AV-C and AV-T they are also not the "final answer" on testing. Now that AV-C is venturing into real world tests (eg. Dennis Labs) I am eager to see the detailed results.

None the less anyone who is relying exclusively on these YouTube tests should be a little more open-minded.

I didn't say "hallelujah". I'm comparing the two types of tests you mentioned and I'm saying that AC-Test, AV-Comparatives and PCSL are much more comprehensive than just testing 10 samples like the youtube tests from languy99 or mrizos.

Whatever talks there is or isn't between Panda and AV-Comparatives is just that, between Panda and AV-Comparatives.

i like very light and simple. it detects everything.

I have a bit if an issue with PC Mag's testing methology. They try to clean an already infected system by installing an AV product and then seeing how well it cleans that system. But this is not how we clean infected systems in the industry. We boot the infected PC from a "live CD" such as Kaspersky's, F-Secure's or equivilent and clean it that way. We would never actually install an AV product to clean it, as this method very rarely works.

We haven't done it yet but probably will bundle a few fixes together in either a new vesion of a single installeable hotfix.

Our installer recognizes other AVs and does not allow to be installed if other AVs are present. This is to prevent the majority of non-expert users from getting into trouble by having 2 AV resident drivers running at the same time. If Symantec allows to be installed on top of other AVs, you could try installing first Panda, disabling the resident driver, and then installing Symantec on top. Just remember to always have only 1 resident driver active at a time.

Does Panda Cloud Antivirus have any known compatibility issues with Malwarebytes, Threatfire, Winpatrol, or Defensewall?

Thanks for that information, this weekend I want to switch over my PC to Panda and use a layered security setup. I don't want to go through the compatibility issues I had with MSE again

Update: I installed it and I am very impressed, changing antivirus software cut my boot time in half!

Installed Panda Cloud AV on my Windows 7 to test as my Avira license is nearing it's end. Installed fine and very light after initial quick scan. However, when testing with eicar (all types available) there was no warning from Panda that any of the eicar files are potentially harmful. No downloads were blocked, no connections terminated and, as stated, no warnings.

None of the files were accessable I must admit, but I am not confident that Panda Cloud is ready for full release to be honest. I would like to see warnigs when malware is downloaded, or attempted to be downloaded, and I would like to see it block the download.

So i'll be removing it and waiting untill the product matures a little I think. So far it doesn't instill me with confidence.

Panda Cloud Antivirus does detect the EICAR testfile obviously. What format did your EICAR test have (.com, .exe, txt, ...)? Also what do you mean by

I think that user is talking about the message that says: "This File is in use and can not be accessed" its worded something like that. On a youtube review I watched of panda cloud that message would come up but no Virus has been Blocked message came up. Watch the Languy99 review of Panda Cloud on youtube and you will see the message I am talking about

I downloaded all versions availabnle on eicar.com. The "naked" .com and both versions of the file zipped. All SSl versions too. Panda did not ilicit a single warning that any of the files were suspect.

By "none of the files were accessible" I mean that I ws not able to open any of the zipped files. I received a message stating that the file was corrupted. I assumed that this was Panda blocking my access to the files. But, again, there was no warning from Panda Cloud.

Ok thanks for the clarification

It should give a warning when you download eicar.COM. I just downloaded it and this is what is shown as soon as eicar.com hits the desktop:
Name: cloudav-eicar.png
Views: 662
Size: 105.4 KB

And the logfile:
Code:
Event More details Date/Time Status Virus detected EICAR-AV-TEST-FILE Location: C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Desktop\eicar.com 12/19/2009 2:35:44 PM Virus detected EICAR-AV-TEST-FILE Location: C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Desktop\eicar.com 12/19/2009 2:35:44 PM Neutralized

If you download the ZIP or TXT however it will not give a warning (unless you right-click on them and scan them) and the TXT file is not supposed to be detected.

Is anyone else seeing the same thing as @Patrician?

PCAV always picks up the eicar.com file on a number of Vista/XP machines here.

Maybe this problem is Win 7 specific

Or I would make sure that all remnants of your last AV are removed, try a fresh install of PCAV, carry out a FULL scan, Reboot and then try eicar again.

Pbust also uses Panda Cloud on Win7 64bit. For the fun of it I have installed it now again to see if it works any better than last time. More people in the cloud, that kind of stuff.

No I did not get any warning from Panda Cloud. My son also has a Windows 7 machine running Panda Cloud and is seeing the same behavior. The downloaded files are not accessable but Panda gives no warning.

Also, why should there be no warning when downloading the zipped versions? Doesn't Panda Cloud scan files when written to disk?
