Morning,
I am running ESET AV 3.0.684 on a Vista Business 32 SP2 box... I have been running for about 30 minutes this morning and after the latest virus signature update 4551 (and a restart for two Windows Updates) - the bloody eset service is grabbing 25% CPU just about everytime I start something or try to open an app. This box has been running perfectly for months and so has ESET.... Just wondering if anyone else is seeing anything.... Cheers! VP |

Hello Vocalpoint,
I have not heard of any others having the same issues with recent updates. I would recommend reinstalling the software to see if the problem persists. The update may have been corrupted during download and could cause this type of issue. |

wait till next update, I allways try to clean the update cache before a new update of NOD32.If the next update still does this, post back your results and then i'll tell you how to reset the update files and download a fresh batch, to see if it was a corrupt download that causes this for you. |

This thing is driving me crazy. Any chance you can tell me how to reset? I am ready to ditch the cache now and retry it before I uninstall. EDIT: I dumped the cache and hit update...a few files came down and so far...no freezing...will keep an eye on things.... |

What were the two Windows Updates that rebooted your computer to install? Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

I did receive updates that this version may finally be compliant but I need to test that.... Update on my issues - as soon as I completely uninstalled 3.0.684 and reinstalled - so far so good. Re: Windows Updates - sorry - I don;t have the names but they are the same ones that were released this week to the masses. Cheers! VP |

Hello,
Could it have been the Platform Update for Microsoft Windows Vista that was installed? Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

Most certainly. Is there an issue with this update. It was a critical/essential so - Windows Update went for it as usual. Update when you can. Cheers! VP |

Hello,
I am not aware of any outstanding issues, however, from looking at Microsoft's web site, it appears this rather large update from Microsoft makes several low-level changes to Windows Vista's behavior and I cannot help but wonder if the resource utilization issue you noticed is simply the result of increased overhead from on-access scanning while the operating system was being patched. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
