VIPRE does not have a removal tool installed and does not show up in my add/remove programs (well it is there but no option to add/remove). How is this supposed to be uninstalled?

Found a direct link download to a remover in the Sunbelt forum. Not sure why VIPRE has no built in uninstall tool but it would surely help things. Also, would help if Sunbelt fixed whatever bug VIPRE has that does not allow it to be removed from the Windows add/remove programs list. I noticed a ton of complaints about this on the web. Anyway, it's gone now. It's a nice av otherwise though.

The Windows installer cleanup tool is another option to remove "stuck" programs.

VIPRE does have an uninstall entry in the add/remove. I used VIPRE and it was always there. I may go back to VIPRE again once my license for Defender Pro expires (rebadged bitdefender 2009). I'm just curious, what is your reason for uninstalling VIPRE?

You should normally be able to uninstall VIPRE through Add/Remove Programs. The option will say Change instead of Remove or Uninstall. If you don't even see this option there then it sounds like it was a corrupt install. Running the cleaner should have removed any traces of VIPRE from the system.
Just for reference, here is a link to the latest version of the VIPRE cleaner utility: http://sunbelt-software.com/support/vc/VClean.exe If you're using Vista or Windows 7 you'll want to first download the file then right click the file and click Run as Administrator to be sure it is able to run correctly. |
