You can get this excellent program for free from "vnunet" (v3) promotion.
For those who missed it or just fugured out that it might be usefull for you, go and grab it:

    http://www.v3.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2158058/paragon-drive-backup

Great giveaways from Paragon of great software. Maybe other companies should learn something from them.

Info: I've already posted this thread at "software & services" as for significant number of people are visiting that thread.
Also many people may not be informed for moving of Paragon forums @ Wilders.
I've thinked that this deserves to be placed here and i hope that wouldn't be regarded as double-post.

    Hi Creer,
Yes it's a hell a va good deal.
I don't know what is actual version of Paragon Drive Backup.
Maybe someone from Paragon staff can answer that?
Probably they are preparing for releasing of 2010 product line so that's why they are giving away these great products.

Looked like a good time to try this one in stead of True Image.
Unfortunatly I tried to install on both Vista and W7 but it looks like x64 is not supported. I get the massage: this OS is not supported.:doubt:

According to Paragon´s website at least Vista x64 is supported. If that is the case, then Windows 7 could stand a fair chance to work also.

The dl site is slow. Its says itll take 5 hour to dl the 87MB program.
I just used the free express 9.0 version and I love it.
I hope this is just as easy.
Will I need to uninstall the express version before I load the pro version?

    Thanks
    Kenny

I just finished the download from the site you supplied... it took about 2 hours, and the product would not run... it asked for a product key and a serial number... and since none were supplies with the free download... I am either missing something very obvious, or it is not free?

    Am I missing something here...?

It´s impossible to get the file downloaded from that site, the request for the file times out.

Weeeeeeell, the intention was good anyway and i don´t think we can blame Paragon for this. According to the site there´s at least 11877 persons that actually got the file :D Or maybe not..........:argh:

True, but on their website there is a difference between 32 and 64 bit installers to download (trail version).
This advertise offer only downloads 1 installer, if you can get it downloaded. I had to try many times before I got through only to find out I can't use it.LOL.

So the free stuff doesn't work for x64 systems?
Oh well, guess I don't need to download it.

Back to Acronis for me! :D

Yes indeed the download site is too slow, even i haven't tried it.
I know when they give away Partition manager Pro, the site was down like some simulated bot net attack has happen.
I have got it from previous promotions.
That is one bad thing with vnunet offering only one download location and not more.
In future they may consider to upload the file to some popular site like rapidshare(i know that this sounds too weird) , and after period of time given for download, they can kill the download from rapidshare by deleting the file from there(or maybe to some others popular upload services).

    Just my .02 cents.

I took me 5 hrs but I got it.
You'll need to run the app and when you get to where they ask for the serial# and product key, above that, there is a button "GET FREE SERIAL", click on the button, fill out the form and they will email you the info. A couple of post above has the screen shot .
It works just like the free express 9.0 but with all the features.
I uninstalled the express before I install the Pro just to play it safe.
GREAT PRODUCT!!! and I got it free. Can't beat that.

    Without annoyances with download here.

Working well and Free version replaced now...

Features appreciated that free version hasn't (you can see more in Compare Editions):

    • Regular backup
    • Back up files
    • Restore files
    • Schedule Backup operations
    • Split archive into separate volumes
    • File Transfer Wizard

    Hi Aigle,

For most people probably the free version will be satisfactory.
But it sure lacks some significant features(at least to me) as : Backup Compression, Backup Encryption, Backup to Backup Capsule.

    Hi Carver,

Indeed those features look imporant to me too, as for you.
That's why i comment about it.
So for your comment for refering that freebies are good for average Joe user, i suppose that your comment above is assigned to Aigle and not for me.
