Re: Virtual Box Question(s) Hi everyone. I have an issue with my Ubuntu VM, where browsing with Firefox is slow. Updates and everything else seems to be fast, but internet browsing with Firefox is very slow. It's like the actual processing of getting to the web-site has significant delays, and once it's reached the site, everything goes fast. Has anyone noticed this with Ubuntu VM run by VirtualBox? I haven't changed or tweaked any network settings. With my XP and Windows 7 VMs, internet browsing has normal speed. It's only a problem with Ubuntu. Thanks for any replies/help.
I'd try disabling IPV6 in Firefox to see if that speeds it up. Go to about:config in Firefox and disable IPV6.
Are you running version 3.5.2 of Firefox? (Shiretoko) Try using NoScript and AdBlock Plus with FF; flying here on Linux Mint.
I'm running Virtual Box with an Ubuntu host so it may be different but after version 3 came out I had to change the network settings in Vbox from NAT to Bridged. I guess it probably isn't as secure to other computers on the network as the router assigns a network address to the virtual machine instead of the host computer but I could barely surf the internet through the VM without changing it.
Thats good to hear. I'm using Ubuntu host with a W2k guest and also a Windows 7 guest and they both run faster set to bridged. The W2k VM runs with Sandboxie as well. I can't get Sandboxie to run in VBox in anthying but Windows 2000. I like your idea of running Vbox sandboxed. I wonder if with a W2k guest you could run VBox sandboxed as well as run Sandboxie inside W2k. That might be slightly over doing it lol.

I've used them all, without any difference in performance. I think you should check how your system is configured and I'd start with security apps. Comodo HIPS and whatnot does not sound like the most friendly ingredient when you have this/that all configured one on top of another. Mrk
