ATI Home 2009 - external backup failed, now C: drive full

I have a weekly backup scheduled for sunday nights - i use an external usb hard drive (L:\) as my storage, and for some reason over the weekend it was disconnected.

this meant that when the backup started it couldnt find the backup location and failed.

Since that happened my C:\ drive seems to have filled up (100 gig now unaccounted for)

Is it possible that the failed backup process has created a (hidden?) file on C:\ ?

in windows explorer i've checked " show hidden files" and "show operating system files" but i've not been able to find anything.

any help with this issue would be very much appreciated.

Please check the size of the following files/folders:

1) C:\Documents and settings\[account_name]\local settings\temp. You can delete the content of this folder manually.

2) Pagefile.sys. If the size of this file is abnormally large, you should reboot the computer. To change size of the pagefile.sys file you can do the following:

- Start the System Control panel applet (start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> Advanced)
- Click the Performance tab
- Under the Virtual Memory section it will tell the currently configured amount. Click Change.
- A list of all partitions and the size of any pagefiles that exist will be listed next to them. To modify the size of an existing pagefile select the drive, e.g. c: and in the "Paging File Size for Selected Drive" enter a new Initial and Maximum size. Click Set when you have changed the values. The minimum size is 2MB but the total size of all pagefiles should be at least the size of memory + 11MB.

You can use any file manager to find the file or folder with abnormal size, it is hard to hide 100GB of space.
