Ok....I use ESET Smart Security 4 and I went to this site because I wanted to see how good is ESET's Firewall and to my surprise,ESET got only 4%!! Is this true?!
Online Armor Personal Firewall was ranked 1st,followed by Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 2nd and Comodo Internet Security 3rd. Here is the link:http://www.matousec.com/projects/pro...ge/results.php Is ESET's Firewall bad? Should I change it for example to Outpost Firewall Free 2009 which got 93%. And if I do change, can any of those firewalls which are marked excellent detect the things which are listed in ESET's Firewall IDS? Please let me know. Thank you |

Isn't this ESET's Official Support forum?!

Try searching the ESS thread for "Matousec" and you'll get a plenty of results.

I want an answer for this.If ESET's firewall is not good enough,I'm willing to go the AV version(I don't use the anti-spam module) and get another firewall.I think I'll get comodo's firewall but can it detects what ESET's firewall detect in the IDS system.

@ hemingway,
Firewalls that come included with AVs are generally worse than stand alone firewalls, but for a normal home/gaming PC the ESET firewall should just be fine, ![]() |

I read the exact same thing and was very concerned. Since the firewall isn't working for me properly in Windows 7, I have uninstalled ESS and simply installed Nod32. I then installed Comodo Firewall which is free. It also was ranked very high on that test and has passed every test I've thrown at it. If you are waiting for someone from ESET to respond, I highly doubt it. I purchased ESS and was simply told that Windows 7 is not supported at this time and received no further assistance for my firewall issue. Now it's being posted around here that Windows 7 is supported. It's still not working for me. Comodo is working great. That's what I would use if I were you. If I hadn't of purchased a 2 year, 2 user license, I most likely would be using a different anti virus as well based on the help I've received and responses here. |

If you search the forums here you can read that [according to ESET] they *only* tested the Firewall module in that test, which of course is wrong. Malware first have to get in the PC to use such exploits and thats where you have the other modules for.
